The University of Cambridge was ranked 1st in Europe and 3rd among the world's top 500 universities in the QS World University Rankings® 2015/2016, followed by University of Oxford (2nd in Europe and 6th in the world).

The University of Barcelona (UB) continues being the top Spanish university according to QS World University Rankings 2015-2016. It was ranked 166th in the QS world ranking, and it rose one place to rank at position 72 at European level. Moreover, the UB was the only Spanish institution ranked amongst the top 200 universities in the world according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities 2015.

The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) has climbed 38 positions (to 299th globally) in the QS World Universities Ranking, thus improving on its position in the last two years (337 in 2014 and 345 in 2013). In Europe, UPC was ranked 134th.

Technical University of Denmark (DTU) was ranked No. 7 in the Nordic region (No. 6 in Scandinavia), No. 45 in Europe, and No. 112 in the world. On the Engineering &Technology list of QS World University Rankings 2015/16, DTU was ranked No. 2 in the Nordic region, No. 10 in Europe, and No. 46 in the world.
