The University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) - It is ranked among the top 50 best hospitals nationwide in nine specialties: Cancer, 22nd; Cardiology and Heart Surgery, 31st; Diabetes and endocrinology, 29th; Ear, Nose and Throat, 38th; Geriatrics, 47th; Kidney Disorders, 27th; Orthopaedics, 28th; Pulmonology, 20th and Urology, 44th.
UCSF Medical Center - It is placed among the nation's top 10 premier hospitals for the 11th consecutive year and is the best in Northern California, according to the 2011-12 America's Best Hospitals survey. Additionally it is placed among the top 10 medical centers nationwide in eight specialty areas: cancer; diabetes and endocrine disorders; gynecology; kidney disorders; neurology and neurosurgery; ophthalmology; rheumatology; and urology.
Vanderbilt University Medical Center - VUMC received the No. 14 ranking on U.S. News' prestigious national "Honor Roll," the designation reserved for a select group of the nation's highest-performing health care providers.
Mount Sinai Medical Center - It is ranked 16th out of nearly 5,000 hospitals nationwide, and earning a spot on the U.S. News "Honor Roll" of America's best hospitals. Mount Sinai scored highly in 12 of 16 specialties, including ranking No. 1 for Geriatrics.
University of Utah Health Care - It is the No. 1 health care system in the Salt Lake City metro area. The University's services in gynecology and ear, nose, and throat (ENT) were also ranked 47th and 50th in the nation by the magazine. The magazine also lists 72 University of Utah physicians in its list of top doctors.
NYU Langone Medical Center - It is ranked amongst the nation's best in 15 specialty areas in the 2011-2012 annual survey of “Best Hospitals” in America. These specialty areas include: Cancer, Cardiology & Heart Surgery, Gastroenterology, Geriatrics, Gynecology, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Ear, Nose and Throat, Nephrology, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics, Psychiatry, Pulmonology, Rehabilitation, Rheumatology and Urology. The Medical Center is also ranked the No. 2 hospital in the New York metro area based on the number of nationally recognized specialty areas.
