Best Nursing Schools 2012

Johns Hopkins University is tied for Number One with the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Washington for the nursing programs, according to the U.S. News and World Report’s 2012 Best Graduate Schools rankings. There are more than 700 accredited nursing programs in the United States. Rankings are based on expert opinions about program quality and statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school’s faculty, research, and students.

Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) School of Nursing is ranked 7th in masters in nursing (Tied with Duke University, Yale University and the University of Pittsburgh). In addition, it is ranked 1st in nursing midwifery, 4th in geriatric nurse practitioner, and 6th in family nurse practitioner.

The IU School of Nursing at IUPUI is ranked 15th overall and 10th among public nursing schools. Additionally, the school's clinical nurse specialist program for the adult/medical-surgical specialty is ranked 3rd nationally.

The George Washington University School of Nursing is rated 50th in the nation in the 2012 annual rankings. This ranking makes GW the highest ranked school of Nursing in Northern Virginia.

California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State L.A.) is placed among the top in the nation for its nursing master’s degree program. It is one of only two public universities in the Los Angeles area, and the only CSU campus, listed in the top 100. U.S. News has continually listed Cal State L.A.’s nursing graduate program among the top five programs in California. The School’s programs are approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing and received continuing accreditation from the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).
