It was ranked 78th on the magazine's list of the Top 100 Best Public Colleges and 64th on Forbes list of America's Best College Buys.
- According to Diverse Issues in Higher Education's 'Top 100 Degree Producers 2009,’ NAU is ranked 1st in the country for awarding master's degrees to Native Americans.
- Northern Arizona University is ranked highly among the top 100 hospitality and tourism programs in the world for research in the industry, according to the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research. The School of Hotel and Restaurant Management is ranked 11th in the world for research output over a 15 year period—1992 to 2006—making it the top-ranked undergraduate program on the list in the journal's November 2009 issue.

The ranking, which compared 315 universities and colleges from 2000-2005, appeared in the October issue of Conservation Biology.
- According to the Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education magazine, it is ranked 15th in the country for graduating Latinos with master's degrees and 68th for undergraduates.
