List of Big Ten Universities in the US include: Northwestern University, Purdue University, University of Illinois, Michigan State University, University of Michigan, University of Minnesota, University of Iowa, University of Wisconsin, Pennsylvania State University, Ohio State and Indiana University. The University of Nebraska becomes a part of the Big Ten Conference in 2011.
According to the 2011 college ranking study conducted by U.S. News & World Report, Northwestern is the highest ranked institution among Big Ten Universities, rated 12th among the Best National Universities. MSU was ranked 79th nationally, while the University of Nebraska was ranked 104th. The ranking system takes into account various criteria including academic reputation, faculty resources, alumni giving statistics, among others.
