Savannah State University Profile

Founded in 1890, Savannah State University (SSU) is the oldest public historically black university (HBCU) in Georgia and the oldest institution of higher learning in the historic city of Savannah.

Savannah State has the following colleges: College of Business Administration, College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, and College of Sciences and Technology.

Savannah State University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The College of Business Administration has achieved accreditation for its bachelor's degree program in business administration by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The Department of Mass Communications is accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications (ACEJMC).

The Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). The Civil Engineering Technology and Electronics Engineering Technology is accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, Inc. The MPA (Master of Public Administration) Program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA).
