In the Guardian University Guide 2015 league table for ‘computer science and information systems’, St Andrews was ranked 1st in the UK and ahead of Imperial College (2nd). The league table includes those schools incorporating the design, exploitation and technology surrounding computing, including information systems, software engineering, etc.

The University of Surrey’s Department of Computing is ranked highly in the UK and world university league tables. It was ranked 9th in the Guardian University Guide 2015 subject league table for Computer Science and Information Systems.

 Newcastle University's Computing Science was ranked 13th out of 102 institutions by Guardian. In addition, Newcastle University was ranked by students as joint top amongst English computing science departments for overall satisfaction with their course in the 2007 National Student Survey.
