According to the 2013 Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings, Harvard University took the top spot among the world's top universities by reputation, followed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2nd place globally.

The University of Cambridge was the highest ranked UK university for reputation (rated 3rd globally), ahead of the University of Oxford (4th globally).

UC Berkeley maintained its 5th position in 2013 reputation rankings. It has been in the top 6 since the inception of the reputation rankings in 2011.

The University of Michigan maintained its ranking as the 12th top university in the world. It was one of only three public institutions in the U.S. in the top 20, the others were University of California, Berkeley (5) and U-C, Los Angeles (8).

The University of California, San Diego was rated as the 34th top university in the publication's World Reputation Rankings, moving up two spots from 36th last year in the annual rankings.

In Canada, the University of Toronto was the highest ranked university for reputation (rated 16th globally), ahead of the University of British Columbia and McGill University (both institutions tied for 2nd place in Canada and 31st globally).

In Australia, The University of Melbourne was the highest ranked university for reputation (rated 39th globally), followed by Australian National University (2nd in Australia and 42nd globally), and the University of Sydney (3rd in Australia and 49th globally).
