Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur is the top ranked engineering college in India, according to the India Today's ranking of Best Engineering Colleges for 2011. Delhi Technological University made a big jump from 13th to 7th in 2011. NIT Rourkela successfully made it to the top 20 list (jump from 21st to 17th); SV NIT (Surat) up from 22nd to 18th; PSG College of Technology (Coimbatore) up from 23rd to 20th.

In another ranking by Dataquest, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay is ranked No. 1 among the Top Engineering Colleges in India for 2011, ahead of Indian Institute of Technology Madras (No. 2) and Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (No. 3).
