Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University is Chhattisgarh's largest and oldest institution of higher education, founded in 1964. The University has a sprawling campus in the western part of the capital of Chhattisgarh, Raipur. The University provides a wide range of on-campus services and facilities for students and staff. Some of its prominent facilities includes Auditorium, University Press, USIC, Health Centre, Guest House, Faculty House, etc.

Indira Kala Sangit Vishwavidyalay (IKSVV), Khairagarh was established in 1956. IKSVV is member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). This is the oldest University of Chhattisgarh and celebrated Golden Jubilee on 14 October 2006.

Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya is a Central University of India, located in Bilaspur C.G. State. It was formerly called Guru Ghasidas University (GGU), which is an active member of the Association of Indian Universities and Association of Commonwealth Universities. The National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC) has accredited the University as B+.

Established in 1987, Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (IGKV) is an autonomous, nonprofit, research and educational organization dedicated for the upliftment in farmer's livelihood of Chhattisgarh. Grant in aid is received from ICAR and State Government to meet out the mandates of the University.
