List of top medical schools for toxicology programs:

University of Rochester Medical Center
- The Ph.D. Program in Toxicology is administered by the Department of Environmental Medicine. Areas of emphasis include neurotoxicology, immunotoxicology, osteotoxicology, carcinogenesis, and molecular, pulmonary, reproductive and developmental toxicology.
- Faculty members are internationally recognized, with proven track records in mentoring students to the PhD degree.

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
- The Chronicle of Higher Education ranks the Curriculum in Toxicology as the top Toxicology graduate program in the USA (January 12, 2007).
- Assessments for the PhD in Toxicology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill involves coursework, a written exam, an oral exam, dissertation research, and a final dissertation defense.

University of Kentucky College of Medicine
- The Ph.D. in Toxicology program is ranked in the top quartile in the National Research Council survey of doctoral programs in Toxicology and is supported by an Environmental Toxicology Training Grant funded by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS).

Dartmouth College
