Founded in 1968, The Ecole Supérieure du Commerce Extérieur (ESCE) is the first business school specialised in international business and management. It is a member school of the EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development), and also a member of the International Commission of CGPME, MEDEF, and the UGEI (Union of Independent Schools of Higher Learning).

It has been given the agreement from the French Ministry of Education to deliver a 5-year degree starting from September 2007. ESCE's European Lobbying module is accredited by the Action Jean Monnet at the European Commission. The School also offers a dual degree in the fourth year, in conjunction with a partner university abroad. In 2004 it opened a parallel admission program in Beijing, China with the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE).

In 2001, ESCE became a member of the global network, Laureate International Universities - the number one international network of private universities.

ESCE Paris is located within the facilities of the Leonardo da Vinci university centre at the heart of the Paris-La Défense district, and the ESCE Lyon is housed at Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3.
