The University of St. Gallen is a leading research university located in St. Gallen, Switzerland. It was founded as a "Business Academy" in 1898. The university is generally known as HSG, its full name is Universität St.Gallen - Hochschule für Wirtschafts-, Rechts- und Sozialwissenschaften (in English known as the University of St.Gallen - Graduate School of Business, Economics, Law and Social Sciences).

The university has earned EQUIS (2001) and AACSB (2003) accreditations. It is a member of the Community of European Management Schools and International Companies (CEMS); Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA); and Partnership in International Management (PIM).

Research Institutes at the HSG include Institute of European and International Business Law; Swiss Institute for Empirical Economic Research; Research Institute for International Management; Institute of Public Finance and Fiscal Law; Swiss Research Institute of Small Business and Entrepreneurship; to name a few.
