The Open University was established in 1969 in the United Kingdom by Royal Charter. It has Faculties of Arts, Health & Social Care, Law, Mathematics, Education & Language Studies, Computing and Technology, Science, Social Science, and Business School.

The Open University Business School is one of the leading business schools in Europe. Its MBAs are accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA).

It offers a top accredited MBA degree program by distance learning. The MBA consists of two stages: Stage 1 provides a sound foundation in the functional aspects of management - students take one of two programmes, the Professional Diploma in Management or the Postgraduate Certificate in Business Administration. Stage 2 comprises two courses that everyone takes, plus two electives. The university also offers specialist programs: MBA (Life Sciences) and MBA (Technology Management).
