US News Best Graduate Schools 2013
U.S. News Media Group has just released its 2013 edition of Best Graduate Schools rankings. Following are some of the top performers:
- University of Colorado Boulder retains top honors (No. 1) for the atomic/molecular/optical physics program, tied with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Other CU-Boulder programs ranking in the top 10 list include environmental sciences (5th), quantum physics (5th), environmental law (5th) and physical chemistry (8th).
- Numerous University of Washington professional and graduate programs were placed among the top 10 in the 2013 annual rankings by U.S. News. The UW ranked 1st among primary-care medical schools in the country for the 19th consecutive year. The College of Engineering and School of Medicine's biomedical/bioengineering graduate program tied for 7th.
- The University of Tennessee, Knoxville's graduate programs in supply chain management and logistics, nuclear engineering, and printmaking are placed among Top 10 national programs. The College of Business Administration's supply chain management/logistics program moved to 5th place among public institutions and 9th place nationally, moving up from 10th last year.
- Seven of Xavier University's graduate programs are listed among the top programs of more than 1,200 nationwide, according to the 2013 edition of Best Graduate Schools. The Executive MBA is rated 23rd, the MBA with a concentration in International Business rated 22nd, while the Part-time MBA rated 87th.
- Rochester Institute of Technology is ranked among the top colleges and universities in the nation for master's programs in fine arts, engineering and business. It is tied for 27th among universities offering graduate-level studies in fine arts. RIT's rankings among fine arts specialties are as follows: Photography, tied for 6th; Industrial design, tied for 8th; Multimedia/visual communications, 12th.
- The University of Kansas remains a leader in the region and measures well against its national peers in the 2013 rankings of graduate programs. The School of Education's special education program moved from 2nd among both public and private institutions to a tie with Vanderbilt University as the top overall program (No. 1). The city management and urban policy program is also ranked No. 1 nationally.
