Lake Superior State University (LSSU) is a public university located in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, USA. It was the first in the country to offer an accredited four-year fire science program.

The University has the following colleges: College of Arts, Letters and Social Sciences; College of Natural, Mathematical and Health Sciences; College of Professional Studies; College of Engineering, Technology and Economic Development. It offers a broad range of academic programs including the Master of Arts, Bachelor's, Associate's and Certificates programs. Minors are offered in Art, Biology, Chemistry, Communication, Electrical Engineering, English Language and Literature, Environmental Science, Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Geology, and more.

Lake Superior State University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, a commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Several of its programs also have additional accreditation by independent agencies. The Athletic Training program has earned accreditation by the Commissions on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). Other accreditations include: Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET; National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission; National Environmental Health Science and Protection Accreditation Council; etc.
