Northwestern State University of Louisiana
Northwestern State University of Louisiana (also known as NSU) is a four-year public university situated in Natchitoches, Louisiana, USA. It is part of the University of Louisiana System. The University was founded in 1884 as the Louisiana State Normal School.
The University also offers accredited online degree programs, including the Associate Degree: Business Administration; Bachelor of General Studies; Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism; Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts; Master of Arts Degree in English; Master of Education in Early Childhood Education; Master of Education in Educational Technology Leadership; and more.
Northwestern State University is accredited by the commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. It is a member of the Association of American Colleges and of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education. It is also accredited by AACSB International, the world’s premier crediting agency for business programs. All degree programs at the bachelor’s level in Education and those leading to the Master of Education and Educational Specialist degrees are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. The Master of Arts in Student Personnel Services is fully accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs.
Northwestern was the first institution in Louisiana to gain 100 percent accreditation of all eligible academic programs.
