Best Engineering Schools 2012

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology School of Engineering has been recognized as the nation’s top engineering Ph.D. program. It is placed No. 1 in U.S. News’s 2012 rankings of Best Engineering Schools. The rankings are based on expert opinions about program excellence and statistical indicators measuring the quality of a school's faculty, research and students.

Caltech is ranked 7th among America's top graduate engineering programs. It is also placed among the top five schools in the country in several engineering programs, including 1st in Aeronautical Engineering, 4th in Mechanical Engineering, and 5th in Electrical Engineering.

Harvard's graduate engineering programs is ranked 18th (tied with Princeton University), ahead of Northwestern University and University of California, Santa Barbara.

The College of Engineering and Applied Science at University of Colorado Boulder is a Tier One professional school and is recognized as one of the top-ranked engineering schools in the country. It is rated 36th overall and 21st among public engineering programs nationwide (Best Graduate Schools 2012).

Iowa State University’s College of Engineering is ranked 45th in the 2012 edition of America’s Best Graduate Schools, placing it again in the top 25 percent of all engineering graduate programs. Among public institutions, Iowa State maintained its rank of 25th overall.
