University of Arkansas is a leading public, co-educational, land-grant, space-grant, research university.

The University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The teacher education programs in the College of Education and Health Professions are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. At the college level, The Sam M. Walton College of Business was ranked among the top 50 business programs, ranked 42nd overall.

- The Guide to 286 Green Colleges, published by The Princeton Review in partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council, includes the University of Arkansas among its list of 286 colleges and universities with the most impressive campus sustainability programs. It was the only university in the state included in the guide.

- Rated 59th on the list of 100 Best Values in Public Colleges for 2008 (Kiplinger's Personal Finance).

- Rated 16th among public institutions nationally according to a study of institutional endowments conducted by the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) for 2004. The University of Arkansas Foundation is also named with the university in the ranking.

- The University of Arkansas is "among the most affordable of major research universities" according to The Princeton Review.

- Listed among " America's 100 Best College Buys" as rated by Institutional Research and Evaluation, Inc.
