US Best Education Schools 2011
Vanderbilt University (Peabody) remained as the No. 1 school for Education Programs in the 2011 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Graduate Schools”. Teachers College (Columbia University) moved up a place from 3rd in the 2010 rankings.
Louisiana State University College of Education is placed as one of the top 100 post-graduate programs in this year’s rankings. It is ranked 96th overall with a total of 179 schools being ranked out of 278 programs surveyed for the “Best Education Schools”.
University of North Carolina--Greensboro (UNCG) School of Education is placed 56th in the nation. The Department of Counseling and Educational Development is ranked fourth.
The School of Education at the College of William and Mary moved up nine spots, from 48th to 39th (tied with the University of Georgia) in 2011.
The University of Texas at Austin’s College of Education is in the top five nationwide among public universities. The College is ranked 4th among publics and in the top 10 overall, sharing that top-tier status with universities such as Harvard, Stanford, Vanderbilt and Columbia. In the College of Education, special education is ranked 4th overall and 3rd among public universities; administration/supervision is ranked 7th overall and 3rd among publics; and educational psychology is ranked 10th overall and 8th among publics.
