Best Value Public Colleges 2010

According to the Kiplinger magazine's February 2010 annual ranking of the 100 Best Value public colleges, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill took the top spot in the list, followed by the University of Florida and the University of Virginia. Ten colleges from New York are ranked among the 100 “best values in public college”.

The College of William & Mary is ranked as the fourth best value among the country's top 100 "four-year schools that combine outstanding education with economic value", moving up one spot from last year.

Indiana University moved into the top 30 for the first time in Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine's rankings of the "100 Best Values in Public Colleges". It was placed 28th overall, and third among Big Ten universities. IU was ranked behind Big Ten peers at the University of Wisconsin (14th) and the University of Michigan (19th).

Next is the Princeton Review list. The University of Virginia took the top spot among the Best Value Public Colleges for 2010, followed by City University of New York-Hunter College in second place and New College of Florida in third place. The schools selected are based on surveys of administrators and students at over 650 public and private college and university campuses.

New College of Florida was named the No. 3 best value public college by The Princeton Review and USA Today (2010 list). In addition The Daily Beast named New College of Florida No. 3 in its list of “20 Colleges Worth the Price” in 2009. In the U.S. News & World Report’s 2010 edition of “America’s Best Colleges”, New College is rated as the nation’s 5th best Public Liberal Arts College and 97th overall among All Public and Private Liberal Arts Colleges in the country. Forbes also rated New College as the nation’s 2nd “best buy” and as the top ranked public or private college in the state of Florida.
