University of West Florida (UWF)

The University of West Florida (UWF) is a public university located in Pensacola, Florida, US. It is a member of the State University System of Florida. The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching changed UWF's classification from Master's University to Doctoral/Research University in 2006.

The University has the following Colleges: College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business and College of Professional Studies.

UWF is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The College of Business is accredited by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Degree programs covered by the AACSB accreditation include: Master of Accountancy (MAcc), MBA, and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) with majors in Accounting, Economics, Finance, General Business, Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing. The College of Professional Studies (COPS) is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education and the Council on Social Work Education. The UWF Nursing program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Other accreditations include the Accreditation Board for Engineering & Technology (ABET), American Chemical Society (ACS), Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Education Training (CAATE), etc.

- Rated as a fourth tier post secondary institution in the National Universities category (US News and World Report 2010 edition).

- Selected as one of the Top 60 Military-Friendly Colleges & Universities by Military Advanced Education Magazine (2008).

- 56th in the category Masters Universities - South (USNWR 2007).
