Memorial University of Newfoundland

Founded in 1925, Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN) is a leading comprehensive university located in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. It is also the largest university in Atlantic Canada.

The University has the following academic departments: School of Graduate Studies; School of Human Kinetics and Recreation; School of Music; School of Nursing; School of Pharmacy; School of Social Work; Sir Wilfred Grenfell College; Distance Education and Learning Technologies; Division of Lifelong Learning; Marine Institute; Faculty of Business Administration; Faculty of Education; Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science; Faculty of Medicine; Faculty of Science; Faculty of Arts.

Memorial University of Newfoundland offers a range of undergraduate and graduate degrees, as well as diplomas and certificate programs. Memorial's Faculty of Business Administration was the first business faculty in Atlantic Canada to earn AACSB international accreditation (2002).

- Ranked 404th in the world (Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, July 2009).

- 5th in the comprehensive university category in Macleans magazine 2009. Memorial did well in rankings of its total library expenditures, library holdings per student, student faculty ratio and operating budget.

- Tied with University of New Brunswick for 5th place in the overall ranking in the comprehensive university category (Maclean's magazine 2007).

- Placed among the world' top 500 universities in the  Academic Rankings of World Universities 2005.

- Achieving 22 As and receiving top ranking among medium-sized universities in four top categories: ease of course registration process; library services; on-campus employment opportunities; and assistance locating part-time jobs (Globe and Mail's Report Card).

- 18th in the Gourman Report Ranking of Canadian Universities 1998.
