The University of Edinburgh has the best nursing programmes in the UK, ranked No. 1 by The Times and placed 1st again in the Guardian Good University Guide 2009/10 (for the 5th year running). In the last Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2008), its nursing research achieved the highest rating of any Nursing Department in Scotland, with 65% of submitted publications rated as either 4* or 3*. It offers a four-year a Bachelor of Nursing with Honours and several taught and research postgraduate degrees such as the PhD, MPhil, MSc by Research (Nursing), and MSc Advancing Nursing Practice.
University of Glasgow has one of the best nursing departments in the country. Its Nursing and Health Care are rated joint 7th in the UK and joint 1st in Scotland, according to the Times Higher Education Table of Excellence for Unit of Assessment 12. It offers the Bachelor of Nursing Degree and MSc (MedSci) in Health Care with pathways in Cancer Care, Palliative Care, Critical Care, Cardiac Care, Stroke Care, Lymphoedema, Specialist/Advanced Practice and Generic.
University of York is rated second top for Nursing in The Independent University Guide 2010 and rated joint top University for Health Services Research and 4th for Nursing and Midwifery in the RAE 2008.
The School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work at The University of Manchester was placed top of the table for nursing and midwifery research in the UK (RAE). In the Nursing and Midwifery unit of assessment, 85% of the research undertaken by its staff was rated as 4* 'World Leading' (the highest possible category - 50%) and 3* 'World Class' (35%).

According to the Guardian University Guide, the best ranked dental school in the UK is the University of Dundee, followed by Leeds (2nd), Queen's, Belfast (3rd), Sheffield (4th) and Cardiff (5th). - ranked first in the Guardian and Independent League Tables. The school gained an 'International Excellence' (Grade 5) in the last Research Assessment.

- The Leeds Dental Institute offers 'Bachelor of Dental Surgery' (BChD), which is a qualification required for registration with the Dentist's Register of the General Dental Council (GDC) in order to practice Dentistry in the UK.
Queen's University Belfast
- The School of Dentistry has research collaborations with national and international groups including the Universities of Cardiff, Dundee, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Helsinki, Minnesota, Toronto, etc.
- On completion of the five-year course the degree of BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) is awarded.

- The School of Clinical Dentistry of the University of Sheffield is one of the best in the UK. It is rated as `Excellent´ in the Teaching Quality Assessment, achieving 23 out of 24 points.
- In the recent research assessment exercise (RAE) 2008, 70% of its research was graded as `world-leading´ or `internationally excellent´. It wass ranked 4th among the UK dental schools.
Cardiff University
- The School of Dentistry at Cardiff University is the only one of its type in Wales.
- In the RAE 2008 the School established itself within the top 5 UK Dental Schools. It has been assessed as “Excellent” in the Teaching Quality Assessment (TQA).

Princeton Review releases its annual rankings of the top colleges in the United States in over 50 categories. Ranking lists include Most Conservative Students, Most Liberal Students, Most Politically Active Students, Least Religious Students, Best Athletic Facilities, Great College Town, Best Career / Job Placement Services, Top Stone-Cold Sober School, Best Classroom Experience, etc.
In partnership with USA Today, The Princeton Review has produced the listings of Best Value Public Colleges and Private Colleges. It also partnered PC Magazine to rank the top twenty most "wired " (or the most technology savvy) colleges.
Following are some of the top performers in the Princeton Review Rankings:
- University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is the Number One most wired campus in the US, followed by Kansas State University (2nd) and University of Utah (3rd).
- The University of Florida was named the No. 1 party school in the US, followed by University of Mississippi (2nd) and Penn State University (3rd).
- Swarthmore College was named the No. 1 "Best Value" private college by The Princeton Review, ahead of Ivy League schools such as Harvard (2nd) and Princeton (3rd).
- In The Princeton Review Law School Rankings, Loyola Law School is rated 1st for "Best Classroom Experience", while Brigham Young University rated 1st in the "Most Competitive Students category".
- In the Best Business Schools Rankings 2008, Mercer University is rated 1st for "Greatest Opportunity for Women", while Howard University rated 1st for "Greatest Opportunity for Minority Student".
- The University of North Carolina Wilmington was named among the "Best in the Southeast" by The Princeton Review 2009. It is one of the nation's 50 "Best Value" public colleges and universities.
- Truman State University is one of America's top colleges, ranked 2nd best value for public universities and 17th in the "Students Happy With Financial Aid" category in 2009.

The University of Helsinki was ranked as the best Finnish university on the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) compiled by Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2008, rated 1 st in Finland, 19th in Europe and 68th globally. The University of Turku and the University of Oulu reached the shared position of 303-401 globally. Tech Univ Helsinki was ranked in the position of 402-503 globally.
University of Helsinki was also rated top in the nation and 58th in the world, according to the ranking web of universities 2009.
