Top UK Mathematics Programs
According to the Times Good University Guide 2010, Oxford is ranked top for Mathematics, followed by Cambridge (2nd) and Warwick (3rd).
Warwick is internationally renowned for the research quality of its Mathematics department. In the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2001, the Department received a top 5* rating in applied mathematics and 5 in pure mathematics. In the RAE 2008, Warwick Pure Mathematics was placed second highest in the UK, while Applied Mathematics rated equal first (with Oxford and Cambridge) for the proportion of its research that received the top “world-leading” rating, and came 7th overall in the UK.
The Department of Mathematics at University of Leicester is placed in the Top 5 nationally (Times 2010). They were rated as "Excellent" in the latest governmental Quality Assessment Audit (QAA) for teaching. In RAE 2001 the Department received ranking 5 in both pure and applied mathematics. They were rated 5th, 8th and 12th in the three University League tables for 2009 (Good University Guide, Guardian League Table and Complete University Guide, respectively).
