The University of Hartford is an independent, nonsectarian, coeducational university located in the U.S. state of Connecticut. It was created through the merger of the Hartford Art School, Hartt College of Music, and Hillyer College.
The University of Hartford is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), which accredits schools and colleges in the six New England states.
The Barney School of Business at the University of Hartford is accredited by AACSB International, which is the hallmark of excellence in management education. The School offers many graduate and undergraduate programs. Undergraduate fields include Accounting, Insurance/Finance, Economics/Finance, Marketing and Management.
The teacher education programs, through the Sixth-Year Certificate programs, including teacher education in music, are accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education and by the Connecticut State Department of Education.
In the College of Arts and Sciences, the Doctor of Psychology program leading to the Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology is fully accredited by the American Psychological Association. The Hartt School of the University of Hartford is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music. Its programs in music education are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, the Commission of Higher Education of the State of Connecticut and the NEASC. The Hartt School offers the following graduate programs: Master of Music, Master of Music Education, Doctor of Musical Arts, Doctor of Philosophy in Music Education, Graduate Professional Diploma, Artist Diploma.
The College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture’s undergraduate programs in electrical, civil, and mechanical engineering are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
