The latest Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) 2018 results have been published. The following are some of the top performers:
University of Sydney - In the 22 broad fields of research undertaken at the University of Sydney, 11 achieved the top rating “well above world standard” and 11 were rated “above world standard”.
University of Adelaide - ERA has rated all of the University of Adelaide’s 67 assessed discipline areas at world class or above. The maximum rating has been achieved in research fields in key areas of priority for the State, such as engineering, mathematics, science, medical and health sciences, agriculture, and artificial intelligence.
Griffith University - Griffith’s research is ranked world-standard or better in 19 broad fields of research, with four of these – Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Environmental Sciences and Technology – receiving the highest possible rating of ‘5’ (well above world standard). In the specific fields of research, Griffith was rated world standard or above in 59 fields.
University of Queensland - The Excellence in Research for Australia 2018 assessment has rated UQ above and well above world standard in more specialised fields of research than any other Australian university, across 93 disciplines.
University of Newcastle - Newcastle achieved the maximum possible rating – ERA 5 - ‘well above world standard’ for 30 areas of research, up from 22 areas of research in 2015. The University received a ‘4’ rating of ‘above world standard’ in a further 7 fields of research including Marketing, Human Geography, and Historical Studies; and ‘at world standard’ with a ‘3’ rating in 16 fields including Architecture, Artificial Intelligence and Image Processing, Sociology and Public Health and Health Services.
