The University of Oxford is ranked No. 1 in the world according to the e Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2018, followed by the University of Cambridge in 2nd place globally.

Rice University remained among the top 100 world universities in the 2018 rankings by the London-based publication Times Higher Education (THE). Moving up one spot from last year, Rice is now tied for No. 86 with Sweden’s Uppsala University.

The University of Sheffield has risen five places to be ranked 104th internationally and 13th in the UK in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2018. Of the 16 universities from the Russell Group – the UK’s leading research-intensive institutions – to feature in the QS Top 100, the University of Sheffield was one of only five to improve its position from last year.

The University of Adelaide has risen in the 2018 Times Higher Education World University Rankings to be 134th in the world. It is now ranked in the top 140 in all three of the major international rankings schemes, including QS Rankings of world universities and the ARWU rankings.

Cardiff University rises to joint 162nd place out of 1,102 universities worldwide, a jump of 20 places on last year (182nd) and 46 places since 2016 (208th). The rankings also sees Cardiff University ranked 25th amongst the 93 UK universities represented.

Deakin University has climbed 62 places to enter the world’s top 300 universities. It is ranked 293rd in the world. The latest ranking places Deakin in the top 1.1 per cent of universities in the world.
