The Department of Vision and Hearing Sciences at Anglia Ruskin University is based on campus in the city centre of Cambridge. It offers a range of undergraduate programs in Optometry, Optical Management, Ophthalmic Dispensing, Ophthalmic Dispensing Assistant, Ophthalmic Clinical Assistant and Hearing Aid Audiology and postgraduate studies for an MPhil or PhD. The Department is fully accredited by the General Optical Council (UK) and the Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO).
The School of Life and Health Sciences at Aston University offers the three-year BSc in Optometry course which is the UK's highest ranked optometry programme for student satisfaction. It provides students with the theoretical and practical knowledge and skills needed to become a qualified optometrist
The University of Bradford offers a three-year academic programme leading to a BSc (Hons) in Optometry. It also runs a tailor-made Adaptation Period Programme open to qualified optometrists from certain countries, enabling them to gain registration with the General Optical Council.
The Department of Optometry and Visual Science at City University London was one of the first institutions in the world to train optometrists. The first full-time course in ophthalmic optics began at the antecedent institution to City in 1927.
