University of Maryland Eastern Shore
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) is a land-grant, historically black college located in Princess Anne, Maryland, US. It was founded in 1886 as the Delaware Conference Academy.
UMES comprises the following schools: School of Agricultural and Natural Sciences; School of The Arts and Professions; School of Business and Technology; School of Graduate Studies; School of Pharmacy and Health Professions.
The University offers graduate degrees in the following fields: Marine-Estuarine and Environmental Sciences; Toxicology, M.S. in Applied Computer Science, Guidance and Counseling, Agricultural and Extension Education, Physical Education, Physical Therapy and Special Education.
UMES is part of the University System of Maryland. It is approved by the state of Maryland and fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The Physician Assistant Department is fully accredited through the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. (ARC-PA). Graduates will meet the educational requirements for eligibility of the NCCPA examination and state licensure. The Teacher Education Program was accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education in 2004. In addition, the Construction Management Technology Program is accredited by The American Council for Construction Education (ACCE). UMES is fully accredited for accepting veteran students and assists them in their certification.
