The University of Maine (UMaine) is among the most comprehensive higher education institutions in the Northeast, offering bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, doctoral programs and one of the oldest and most prestigious honors programs in the US. It is the "flagship" University of the seven member University of Maine System.
The University of Maine has been accredited since 1929 through the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. The Maine Business School is accredited by AACSB International –The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The Engineering Physics program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. The University's Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree program is accredited through the National Association of Schools of Public Policy and Administration (NASPAA). The Bachelor of Arts in Social Work program of the School of Social Work is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. The B.S. in Forestry program is accredited by the Society of American Foresters. The University also received accreditations from many other professional societies.
