Scottish University of the Year
Heriot-Watt University is named as Scottish University of the Year 2011/12 in the Sunday Times University Guide 2012. The Award was made on the basis of Heriot-Watt's innovation, teaching excellence and research, first-rate facilities, the employability of its graduates and of recent successes in the National Student Survey (NSS). Overall, the University is ranked 31st in the UK and 4th in Scotland.

- Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, has been awarded the accolade of Scottish University of the Year by The Sunday Times (12 September 2010). The University has the lowest unemployment rate for graduates in Scotland at 3.6% (Sunday Times 2011).
- The University of St Andrews is Scotland's oldest university and has been ranked St Andrews “Scottish University of the Year” in 2009 and the top university in Scotland. According to the Sunday Times, St Andrews is "now firmly established as the leading multi-faculty alternative to Oxford and Cambridge." In 2009 the University received on average 11 applications per place.
- The University of Stirling has been named Scottish University of the Year 2009/2010. It is also the Best University in Scotland and second in the UK for a 'good place to be' (International Student Barometer, 2010).
