A-Plus Schools for B Students
Following are some of the leading universities/colleges that appeared on the list of “A-Plus Schools for B Students” (according to US News 2012 edition of America's Best Colleges):
Butler University - It is ranked 5th among Midwest Regional “Great Schools at Great Prices,” and is also named one of the region's 37 “A+ Schools for B Students.” This is is the third time Butler has been acknowledged in the category of “A+ School for B Students.” Among top 10 Midwest schools, Butler and Creighton University tied for best student-faculty ratio, 11:1.
Clark University - It is included in the list of Best National Universities, ranked 94th of 268 institutions selected, and appears on the list of “A-Plus Schools for B Students.” In addition, the University climbed up ten places from last year to receive a No. 31 ranking in the “Great Schools, Great Prices” category.
Elmhurst College - It made the list of “A-Plus Schools for B Students", schools that offer a great fit for “the scholar trapped in the GPA of a B student” who wants to attend a top-ranked college. In the overall rankings, Elmhurst has earned No. 12 spot in the top tier of Midwestern colleges and universities in the Best Regional Universities category. Additionally, the College continues to score high among its peers in its average freshman retention rate of 83 percent, and has kept its student-faculty ratio at a highly favorable 14 to 1.
Michigan Technological University - It is included among the “A-Plus Schools for B Students,” a category comprising top-quality universities that also admit a significant proportion of students with ACT scores between 20 and 30. Overall, Michigan Tech is listed among the top universities in the nation, ranked 115th, a spot it shares with Washington State University, Howard University in Washington, DC, and the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota.
Loyola University New Orleans - It is placed in the top 10 (ranked No. 8) among regional universities in the South, making this the 21st year the university has maintained its top 10 status. And, Loyola ranks No. 5 on the report's “Best Value Schools” list of southern regional universities. In addition, Loyola made the list of “A-Plus Schools for B Students,” a category in which U.S. News listed schools that admit a meaningful proportion of applicants whose test scores and class standing put them in non-“A” territory.
