According to the guide: TCNJ offers professors focused on teaching and a campus physically similar to one found down the road at Princeton University — without the Ivy League price.

- Stetson University has been recognized for its academic excellence by being included in the 2012 edition of Fiske Guide to Colleges, which praises Stetson for its academic rigor, personal attention and campus life. It is one of nine Florida colleges and universities and 315 nationwide included in this year's guide.

- The Fiske Guide to Colleges selected University of Richmond for its 2012 edition of the 300 “best and most interesting colleges in the United States, Canada and Great Britain". Additionally, Robins School of Business named among “Ten Business Schools that Should Be on Your Radar”.

- The University of Mississippi (UM) is the only Mississippi institution included in the 2012 publication. Colleges featured in the guide were selected with several broad principles in mind, including academic quality, student body, social life, financial aid, campus setting, housing, food and extracurricular activities.

- Trinity University has been recognized as a "Best Buy" institution in the guidebook. Chosen for their low-to-moderate prices, high academic rating, and quality of on-campus student life, only 49 universities received this designation. In its profile of Trinity, the guide described the University as having "a small community feel with quality professors," and "a student body comprised of smart, ambitions men and women".
