Following are the top geriatrics programs in the United States:

Saint Louis University School of Medicine
- The Division of Geriatric Medicine offers gerontological and geriatric education to geriatricians involved in dissemination of state-of-the-art elder care throughout the region.
- Saint Louis University Hospital has been listed as one of the top 10 geriatric programs in the country by U.S. News and World Report since 1998, and it is consistently placed in the top 20 for university-associated Geriatric programs by US News.

Emory University
- The Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology was awarded a grant in from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation in 2003 to strengthen physician training in Geriatrics. The Division has programs at Wesley Woods Center, the Atlanta VA Medical Center, Grady Hospital, community-based long-term care facilities, and an inpatient hospice.
- It was ranked as a top geriatrics program (rated 13th) by U.S. News and World Reports (2009).

University of Hawaii at Manoa
- The fully accredited Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program is one of the largest fellowship programs in the country. The fellowship accepts physicians who are graduates of either internal medicine or family practice residency programs.
- The Geriatrics Program at the University of Hawaii at Manoa‘s John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) is ranked 16th in the nation, according to the U.S. News and World Report "America‘s Best Graduate Schools" (July 2009).
