Top Urology Programs
Following are the top urology departments/programs in the United States:
University of Michigan Health System
- The University's Urology Residency Program consists of six years of postgraduate training, including one core year of surgery, one year of basic science urologic research and four years of clinical urology.
- The University of Michigan Department of Urology is consistently named the top urology program in Michigan and one of the top 15 in the nation by U.S. News and World Report.
Stony Brook University Medical Center (SBUMC)
- The Department of Urology at SBUMC is ranked among the top 50 (32nd) in the “America’s Best Hospitals” August 2009 issue of U.S. News & World Report, joining the ranks of institutions such as Johns Hopkins, Cleveland Clinic, and the Mayo Clinic. The program had the second highest survival rate out of the top 50 programs included on the ranking list in that category.
University of Cincinnati
- The University of Cincinnati Urology Division is one of the best in the nation, consistently named one of the top urology programs in the US News and World Report annual listings, and many of its physicians are recognized in multiple national and local "Best Doctors" and "Top Doctors" listings.
- For five years in succession, 2002 through 2007, US News ranked the Division of Urology in the top 50 urology centers in the nation.
University of Washington (UW)
- The UW Urology program is consistently recognized as one of the leaders in the field for both patient care and innovative research.
- The UW Department of Urology is ranked 30th nationally in 2009 (USNWR).
- It has been placed among the top 5 Urology departments in NIH funding ($3.25 million) and one of only a handful with a Training Grant. It was ranked No. 3 in the nation for NIH funding in 2005.
