Murray State University is a leading university located in the state of Kentucky, USA.
Murray State University is among the first 30 of the 780 institutions accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges for reaffirmation under the new Principles of Accreditation: Foundations for Quality Enhancement in Spring 2004. The College of Education at Murray is a NCATE accredited institution. The Department of Music has been a member of the National Association of Schools of Music since 1936.
The New York Times recognized Murray for leader in graduation rate improvement.

It is the only Kentucky public university to be ranked for that length of time in guide. It is rated No. 18 in the Best Universities-Master’s/South, which includes both privates and publics. When reviewing overall scores, Murray State’s comes in at 10th in the nation among public universities.
- Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine has twice ranked Murray State University as one of America's top public universities. When 500 public colleges around the nation were studied, Kiplinger's rated MSU 54th (in-state value) and 52nd (out-of-state value).
- It was one of only six public universities in the nation to be selected by Kaplan, Inc. as a "Hidden Treasure". The honor was based on the results of a Market Measurement, Inc., national survey of high school guidance counselors.
