Following are the leading medical schools in Kenya:
Moi University, School of Medicine -The School of medicine was started as the second medical school in Kenya in 1988 and admitted the first intake of medical students in 1990. The Schools offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs such as the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B), MMEd in Child health Pediatrics, MMed in Internal Medicine, MMed in Family Health, etc.
Kenyatta University - The School of Health Sciences was set up in August 2004. It has the following departments: Department of Nursing Sciences; Department of Public Health (including Environmental Health); Department of Pre-clinical sciences (Includes Human Anatomy, Physiology and Medical Biochemistry); Department of Pathology.
University of Nairobi School of Medicine - Besides training, research and health policy formulation, the School offers specialized service to patients in Kenyatta National Teaching and Referral Hospital.
Aga Khan University - Aga Khan University Medical College (AKU-MC) was founded in 1983 and enrols students in a five-year programme leading to the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. It has agreements with a number of leading academic institutions including Harvard University in the United States, McGill and McMaster Universities in Canada, etc.
