Community College Rankings
Washington Monthly has released its 2010 ranking of America's 50 best community colleges. Saint Paul College is ranked 1st nationally followed by Hesston College in 2nd position and Carolinas College of Health Sciences in 3rd position.
Hesston College is a two-year liberal arts college. It is ranked No. 2 on the list of two-year colleges in terms of the overall service provided to the local community and student success rate. The schools ranked in the category are comprised of both private and public two-year institutions. The rankings for the two-year college category are compiled from The Community College Survey of Student Engagement or CCSSE. Criteria include active and collaborative learning, academic challenge, graduation rates, student-faculty interaction, student effort, and support for learners.
Northampton Community College has been named to Washington Monthly's list of America's 50 best community colleges, rated 42nd out of more than 650 community colleges in the country. The College is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
Barton Community College is placed 50th on the list, bolstered by its high percentage rate of students who went on to complete four-year degrees. Barton’s 70 % graduation rate ranks 5th among the colleges that made the list. Included with Barton in the Top 50 list were two other Kansas colleges: Hesston College and Seward County Community College.
Tacoma Community College is ranked 17th among the community colleges in the country, and number one in Washington State. TCC’s 63 percent graduation rate is in the top six of the community colleges that made the top 50.
