Best National Liberal Arts Colleges 2011
U.S. News & World Report has just released its ranking of the Best National Liberal Arts Colleges in the 2011 edition of Best Colleges. Williams College is on top of the list of best liberal arts colleges, with Amherst in second position.
For the second straight year Westmont has ranked in the top 100 of the Best National Liberal Arts Colleges. Of the nation’s 266 liberal arts colleges that emphasize undergraduate education, Westmont is placed in the top tier at 99th. Westmont is just one of three liberal arts colleges among the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU) in the top 101, and the only one in California to be listed in the first tier.
St. Norbert College is once again named one of "America's Best National Liberal Arts Colleges," jumping fourteen places to 127th in this year's ranking. Its freshman retention rate is 82 percent, its graduation rate exceeds by 3 percent the predicted rate based on the college's student body, and 89 percent of the faculty are full-time.
Bethany College is the only West Virginia institution to be included in the First Tier listings. It is the first college in West Virginia and the fourth out of 36 colleges in the Appalachian College Association named in the overall National Liberal Arts Colleges study.
