The University of California, Merced is the tenth campus in the prestigious University of California system. It has the following Schools and Divisions: School of Engineering; School of Natural Sciences; School of Social Sciences, Humanities & Arts; Graduate Division.

Awards and Rankings:

- The University of California, Merced earns “B+” on 2010 College Sustainability Report Card (The Sustainable Endowments Institute). In California, only three universities did better than UC Merced — Stanford, UC San Diego and Pomona College. UC Merced earned "A's" for its buildings' energy-efficient and environmentally friendly construction, food and recycling efforts and energy and climate change policies that emphasize reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

- UC Merced has earned LEED "Gold" certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for excellence in environmentally responsible design, construction and operation.

- It has won California's highest and most prestigious environmental honor: the Governor's Environmental and Economic Leadership Award (GEELA). UC Merced earned an award in the comprehensive land-use planning category for the campus' 2009 Long-Range Development Plan (LRDP).
