America Best Colleges

In the United States there are some rankings of America Best Colleges and Universities compiled by magazines such as Forbes and the U.S. News & World Report.

According to the U.S. News & World Report America's Best Colleges 2010 guidebook, both Harvard University and Princeton University are ranked joint 1st among the best national universities in the country, followed by Yale University in third place. U.S. News ranks all accredited universities and colleges in the nation by several key measures of quality, with the greatest weight given to the opinions of college leaders in positions to judge other schools' undergraduate academic excellence. Some other key measures also include faculty resources, student selectivity, alumni giving, etc. The magazine ranks institutions within classifications developed by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
