Mount Royal University - Achievements
Mount Royal University (MRU) is a public undergraduate focused post-secondary institution located in Alberta, Canada.
MRU has the following Faculties, Schools and Centres: Bissett School of Business; Faculty of Arts; Faculty of Communication Studies; Faculty of Continuing Education and Extension; Faculty of Health and Community Studies; Faculty of Science and Technology; Faculty of Teaching and Learning; Institute for Nonprofit Studies; Integrative Health Institute at Mount Royal; Institute for Scholarship of Teaching and Learning; International Education/Languages Institute; Centre for Child Well-Being; Iniskim Centre; The Mount Royal Conservatory.
The Students’ Association of Mount Royal University is one of the the oldest students’ associations in Alberta and has been around since at least 1913 in one form or another.
Mount Royal University's Athletic Therapy program is accredited by the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association (CATA). Graduates are eligible to write CATA certification examinations, and qualify to work as a certified athletic therapist in Canada. The Bachelor of Applied Interior Design program is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (formerly FIDER, Foundation for Interior Design Education Research).
Achievements and Awards:
- The Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) welcomed MRU as its 95th member institution, recognizing its degrees at a national and international level (2009).
- In 2007, Mount Royal won the prestigious Calgary Award for Blue Skies Environmental Achievement for its commuting program and incentives.
- The Roderick Mah Centre for Continuous Learning has received gold certification for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).
- The Mount Royal women's soccer team wins their fifth consecutive Alberta College Athletic Conference title (2001).
