Top Behavioral Neuroscience Program

Both UCLA and UMich Ann Arbor are ranked top nationally in the psychology specialty rankings: Behavioral Neuroscience.

UC Berkeley is in the top 4 nationally for the specialty. Programs in Behavioral Neuroscience focus on animal behavior, sensory physiology, biological rhythyms, and ethological approaches. All students in the program will be required to take a proseminar course providing a broad overview of topics in systems-level neuroscience.

The Neuroscience Training Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison was established in 1971. Training will lead to the Ph.D. degree in neuroscience or the M.D./Ph.D. degree in cooperation with the School of Medicine and Public Health. Members of the Program come from different departments including Anatomy, Anesthesiology, Biochemistry, Comparative Biosciences, Genetics, Kinesiology, Medical Physics, Medical Sciences, Neurology, Neurological Surgery, Pharmacology, Pharmacy, etc.

Princeton University is tied for 7th with Yale for the specialty. At Princeton University, faculty with research interests in neuroscience can be found in many departments such as Applied Math, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Philosophy and Psychology.

Stanford is tied for 10th with Harvard for the specialty rankings by US News. An independent survey based on the impact of published papers, and reported in Science, found that the Program at Stanford to be rated "tops in brain research" among the nation's largest neuroscience research programs.
