Harvard University is ranked No. 1 for Social Sciences in both THE-QS and HEEACT World University Rankings 2009. USA dominated the global top 20 with 19 universities in the HEEACT ranking, 18 in the ARWU and 10 in the QS rankings.

UK has two institutions in the ARWU league table: Cambridge #16 and Oxford #17.
Australia has two institutions in the QS rankings: Australian National University #11 and University of Melbourne #19.
