The University of San Diego (USD) is a top Catholic institution of higher learning chartered in 1949. It is one of only 18 Catholic colleges and universities in the United States to have a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa.
The university consists of six schools:
- Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science
- Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies
- School of Business Administration
- School of Law
- School of Leadership and Education Sciences
- College of Arts and Sciences
The School of Law is accredited by the American Bar Association and is a member of the American Association of Law Schools. In 2003-2004, Leiter ranked the school 22nd nationally in terms of scholarly impact.
The School of Business Administration is one of few business schools that includes both AACSB-accredited business programs and ABET-accredited engineering degree programs. It was one of the first business schools in the country to establish a master's-level degree program focusing on international business.
The University is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
