White Rose University Consortium

White Rose University Consortium is a partnership of three leading universities in the UK: University of Sheffield, University of York, and University of Leeds. The White Rose is formed in 1997 by the three Yorkshire Universities. They are all ranked highly in national and international league tables.

University of York (A Top Teaching University):
- 11th nationally in Guardian and The Times University Ranking 2010.
- 10th in Independent University League Table 2010.
- named Top University in Yorkshire & Humberside by the Complete University Guide 2009.
- 20 departments gained the rating of “Excellent” in Teaching Quality Assessment.
- ranked 1st for teaching and 6th for research in the last RAE 2001.

University of Leeds (A top 30 UK University):
- 27th nationally in The Times Good University Guide 2010.
- 28th in the Guardian University League Table 2010.
- over 61% of its research is ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’, securing the University 14th place in the UK for research quality, and 8th place for research power (RAE 2008).

University of Sheffield (A World's Top 100 University)
- 30th in the country in Guardian University League Table 2010.
- 18th in the Times Good University Guide 2010.
- ranked among Top 10 for research power in the Russell Group, according to the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE).
- awarded Queen´s Anniversary Prize for the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre with Boeing.

International Rankings:

- Leeds is ranked 80th in the world in THES World University Rankings 2007, but it dropped to 104th in 2008.

- York is ranked 81st globally by the Times HE QS World Top 200 Universities 2008.

- Sheffield is rated 70th in the world by Newsweek ranking of Global Top 100 Universities, 77th in the world by the Academic Ranking of World Top 500 Universities 2008, and 76th in the world by the Times Higher Education - QS 2008 rankings.
