Carnegie Mellon was recently ranked 1st for MFA program in Multimedia and Visual Communications by US News. Carnegie Mellon's graduate programs in art and design jumped up from 10th to 7th overall. 

The California Institute of the Arts, commonly referred to as CalArts, was ranked second best for the specialty. It is the first art institute in the nation to offer BFAs and MFAs in both the visual and performing arts. CalArts has 6 professional schools-Art, Critical Studies, Dance, Film/Video, Music and Theater.

Founded in 1877, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) is the best fine arts and design school in the US, ranked Number One for Fine Arts program and Top 3 for the specialty of Multimedia and Visual Communications. RISD offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in 18 disciplines.
