The University of Cambridge has once again come top of the Complete University Guide 2019, ahead of Oxford (2nd) and London School of Economics (3rd).

The University of Southampton has risen six places to 20th overall in the 2019 Complete University Guide. In addition, the Guide places Southampton in the top 10 in the following subject areas: Aeronautical & Manufacturing Engineering (4th), Anatomy & Physiology (8th), Aural & Oral Sciences (3rd), Civil Engineering (6th), Communication & Media Studies (9th), Computer Science (7th), Education (10th), Electrical & Electronic Engineering (4th), and Mechanical Engineering (6th).

Newcastle University is ranked 22nd out of 131 UK universities in the Complete University Guide table 2019, moving up one place from last year. The University has the region’s highest number of courses featuring in the subject tables, at 38 - with 17 placed in the country’s top 10. It ranks among the best for subjects such as Art and Design, Agriculture and Forestry, Food Science, Dentistry, Communication and Media Studies, Medicine, Archaeology, Architecture, etc.

The University of Reading is ranked 32nd in the UK, according to the Complete University Guide 2019. In addition, the University is ranked fourth in the region for Research Quality & Intensity, Academic Services Spend and Degree Completion, and fifth for Student-Staff Ratio and Good Honours.

The University of Liverpool has been ranked 36th in the 2019 Complete University Guide, representing an improvement of five places on last year. In addition, it was placed in the top 10 of seven subjects: Occupational Therapy (5th out of 27), Veterinary Medicine (5th out of 7), Archaeology (7th out of 32), Medical Technology (7th out of 30), Optometry/Ophthalmology/Orthoptics (9th out of 13), Chemistry (10th out of 60) and Physiotherapy (10th out of 34).
