Spalding University is a private, non-profit, fully accredited, doctoral level university located in the heart of downtown Louisville, Kentucky, USA. It is the oldest Catholic university west of the Alleghenies.

Spalding University's Master of Fine Arts in Writing is a member of the Association of Writers and Writing Programs. The undergraduate program in nursing, which was the first baccalaureate program for nurses in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and the graduate program in nursing are accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
